The Vancouver Swing Society is a Vancouver-based registered non-profit dedicated to the promotion of Lindy Hop, Balboa, and authentic jazz dances to the Lower Mainland.  Formed in 2011, we focus on providing support to organizers holding swing dance events. The VSS is run by a board of directors  along with a group of very dedicated volunteers.

 

From our constitution, the purposes of the Vancouver Swing Society are:

1. To promote the study and enjoyment of authentic jazz- and swing-era dances, including, but not limited to, Lindy Hop and Balboa;

2. To organize events that encourage the advancement of these dances in the Vancouver area;

3. To provide the Vancouver swing dance community with opportunities to dance to authentic jazz- and swing-era music, with an emphasis on live music when possible;

4. To collaborate with and assist other organizations and individuals to achieve the purposes set out above.
